About

Our Mission

At Highland HELPS, our mission is to support individuals on their journey to recovery by providing comprehensive and accessible resources about substance use disorder. Guided by our core principles of Healing, Empowering, Linking, Promoting, and Serving (HELPS), we aim to connect people, in Highland County and the surrounding region, with the information and services they need to make positive and lasting changes in their lives.

Core Values

Healing

We embrace a holistic approach to recovery that prioritizes the emotional, mental, and physical well-being of our individuals on their path to life beyond addiction.

Empowering

We provide our individuals with the resources and tools needed to take charge of their recovery.

Linking

We connect our people with the trusted services, support networks, and vital information that is essential to their journey.

Promoting

We advocate to challenge the stigma of substance use disorder in Highland County, through awareness, understanding, and actionable solutions.

Serving

Community Dashboard

This dashboard provides real-time insights into key state and county statistics, focusing on overdose metrics in Ohio. It serves as a resource for monitoring community well-being and identifying areas in need of intervention.

How We Are Supported

The award of the HRSA federal monies will greatly help Highland Helps to determine the direction and scope of services. The core group consists of members from the Highland Health Department, Drug Coalition, Paint Valley ADAMH Board, Highland County Community Action Agency, and the University of Cincinnati, whose objective is the whole of Highland County, to strengthen the community’s capacity to change the skyrocketing trend in years of potential life lost (YPLL) by targeting more integrated and more comprehensive SUD/OUD (substance use disorder/opioid use disorder) prevention, treatment and recovery support.
